Seven years after its original release, Avengers: Endgame is heading back to theaters β not as a simple re-run, but as “Avengers: Endgame Encore,” a reworked cut arriving September 25, 2026, just ahead of December’s Avengers: Doomsday.
What’s actually different
The Encore cut runs 185 minutes, about four minutes longer than the original 2019 theatrical release, making it Marvel Studios’ longest theatrical release to date. Beyond the runtime, Marvel has quietly reworked several details from the original film, including adjusted color grading on select shots and a small tweak to one of Tony Stark’s lines. The additions include a new introduction and roughly five minutes of new footage designed to connect directly into Avengers: Doomsday, plus a new post-credits scene.
A new premium format
The re-release also launches Disney’s new “Infinity Vision” certification, which isn’t a new projection technology but a quality label for auditoriums that meet specific Disney and Marvel standards for screen size, laser projection, and immersive audio. The film will also be available in standard IMAX. Tickets went on sale August 25, with pricing varying by theater and format.
Why now
Co-director Joe Russo has described the new footage as a “critical companion story” to Doomsday, suggesting Marvel is treating the re-release as connective tissue for its next Avengers chapter rather than pure nostalgia. The full ensemble cast is credited for the release, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, and Brie Larson. Avengers: Doomsday follows on December 18, 2026.
