Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has officially become the best-selling song in the U.S. in 2026 by total units, overtaking Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” according to chart-tracking data β a milestone for a country artist in a year dominated by pop crossover hits.
The song behind the record
“Choosin’ Texas” was co-written and produced by Langley alongside Miranda Lambert, producer Ben West, and co-writers Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor, with Lambert also contributing background vocals. Langley has said the song came together almost by accident during a writing retreat, when Lambert told a story about a Texas ex and Langley responded, “Well, she’s from Texas, I can tell” β the line that became the song’s hook.
A record-breaking run
The track spent four weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, a record for the most weeks at No. 1 by a woman, while also topping Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. It’s part of Langley’s sophomore album “Dandelion,” released in April 2026, which also includes her singles “Loving Life Again” and “Be Her.”
What’s next
Langley supported the album with the Dandelion Tour, which ran from May through August 2026 with stops including Toledo, Oklahoma City, and a closing show in Fort Worth, Texas. She’s since been announced as a support act on Eric Church’s Free the Machine Tour and is set to make her Stagecoach Festival debut. The Alabama native’s rise has been steady rather than sudden β years of touring and songwriting collaborations building toward a single that, for now, has out-sold every other song released in the U.S. this year.
